About
Originally from Colorado Springs, Colorado, Meagan fell in love with music at age ten, when she started playing piano. She began learning oboe soon after, and decided to pursue music full time after her lifelong appreciation of the oboe was sparked while playing for a high school production of Les Miserables. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Music from Vanderbilt University in 2019 with Jared Hauser and a Master of Music from the Eastman School of Music in 2021 with Richard Killmer.
After her graduate degree finished, Meagan was awarded a position with the United States Army Europe and Africa Band and Chorus. She served three years in her position and was stationed in Germany, where she toured over 20 countries with the Concert Band and Woodwind Quintet. She received numerous awards during her time, and performed as a soloist during the annual fall tour. As part a self-sufficient unit, Meagan also worked as the music librarian for the band, and closely collaborated with conductors and guest artists.
Meagan now lives and works in Nashville, Tennessee. Since returning to the United States, she has maintained an active freelance career around the greater Nashville area, having played for recording studio artists, churches, pit orchestras, choirs, and more. She currently acts as third oboe and English horn with the Jackson Symphony in Jackson, Tennessee, and is principal oboe with the Nashville Civic Orchestra. Meagan was recently appointed to be on the faculty at Tennessee Tech University as the Adjunct Professor of Oboe. At the University, she is principal oboe with the Bryan Symphony Orchestra and part of the faculty woodwind quintet. She also provides private oboe and reed making lessons near her home in East Nashville. Alongside her performing and teaching duties, Meagan works as an orchestra librarian assistant with the Nashville Symphony.
In her free time, Meagan is an avid rock climber, reader, and crocheter. She and her mom use their craft skills to run an Etsy shop selling handmade double reed cases as well as crocheted amigurumi reeds.
