Reeds
Meagan began learning how to make oboe reeds in middle school, just a few years after she started playing. In the years since, she has crafted the skills necessary to make oboe and English horn reeds for her own performing as well as reeds for students and customers to purchase. Her reeds are carefully made to incorporate stability, responsiveness, and a beautiful, responsive tone. Each reed is tailored to the player’s needs and playing level so that they can fully trust in what they purchase.
Meagan also provides personalized reed-making instruction for students and advancing oboists. Lessons focus on every stage of the process—from cane selection and tying to gouging, shaping, scraping, adjusting, and troubleshooting. The goal is to help each student develop the knowledge and confidence to create reeds that work for them. Whether just beginning or refining the craft of reed making, each student will achieve greater consistency and success with reeds through lessons.
